Friday saw the second reading of my Private Member’s Bill.
It has been a week of sensitive and divisive debates in Parliament.
Last week was the G7 summit which was held in Canada. It was very timely given the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, so Starmer must use this opportunity to build an international consensus on how to move forward with creating a lasting peace
I’m looking forward to a positive outcome at the UN Oceans conference in Nice this week after I went to a ‘rewilding the oceans’ event in Parliament last week and the release of David Attenborough’s newest film Ocean.
After a lovely few days at home it was back to work in full swing!
This week, as the house is in recess, I’ve taken a few days to rest and spend with family, I need to remind them who I am!
Last week saw the welcome news that the Government has strengthened our relationship with the EU with a renewed deal which encompasses trade, travel and collaboration.
It’s been a glorious week weather wise, I hope you have been able to get out and about and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Thursday 8th May was the 80th anniversary of VE day, and it was humbling to see the many events that had been organised to commemorate the day, not only in the constituency but across the country too.
I celebrated my birthday this week, I took the morning off to spend with my family, the first time I’ve actively taken off since being elected last July!
After a lovely 2 weeks in the constituency whilst Parliament was on its Easter recess (albeit with a brief recall to discuss all things steel), I caught the early train to London with a spring in my step, no doubt helped by the beautiful weather!
This Easter has been a mixed bag of sunshine and torrential rain, more than just April showers. I hope that if you had any time off over the Easter break that the weather didn’t spoil it for you.
This week has been all about constituency matters!
This week sees the final week of Parliament before the Easter recess, and although I’ll miss the debates and committees in Westminster I’m looking forward to spending a couple of weeks at home and getting out and about in the constituency.
This week has seen the sad news that the No Limits Café in Newton Abbot has announced their closure.
The big news of the week has been Liz Kendall outlining the Government’s plans for welfare spending, including disability benefits.
This week the Government have announced planning reforms which will allow 150 major projects such as solar farms or wind turbines to go ahead, as part of their plan to drive economic growth.
It’s been a strange week, largely dominated by the situation between the US and Ukraine, and the breakdown of talks between the two.
It’s been another busy week and I’ve split my time between Westminster and the constituency.
This week Parliament has been in recess so I’ve been able to spend all week in the constituency. I had a full diary and it was very productive meeting with both companies and constituents across the week.
